This was Crude Operators
The Crude Operators conference was called by Corporate Watch and Platform, to bring together the many anti-oil campaigners, to share our understanding of the oil industry, and to come up with strategies for challenging it.
This was at a time when David Simon, the Chairman of BP had just been appointed to Tony Blairs new cabinet, as Minister for Trade in Europe. Greenpeace had just launched its biggest ever campaign, to bring down the oil industry. And seven months later the Climate Summit was to be held in Kyoto, to set legally binding targets for reduction of CO2 emissions.
Crude Operators is brought to you under production-sharing agreement of Platform UK Resources with Corporate Watch and Hydrocarbons Ltd.
Edited by James Marriott and Greg Muttitt.
